FOUNTAINS OF BELLAGIO

Even though we stayed at Bellagio, we didn’t get around to taking in the fountain show until our very last night. As expected, it was pretty incredible. At night, the show happens every 15 minutes to a rotating selection of songs, this one being “Gayaneh – Ayesha’s Dance” performed by the London Symphony Orchestra. Thanks to my fiancee for lending me her head for camera stability. She made a great bi-pod.

I’M IN VEGAS!

Our view from the Bellagio. We got a nice deal here online, and are living the life. Took a lot of self-control to not order $25 eggs this morning in bed, but I don’t want to come home bankrupt. So far I’ve only lost $5 gambling, so there’s that. Tonight, we are hitting up The Beatles Love Cirque show where my love of The Beatles will finally be mixed with my love of acrobats. Pretty pumped for that.

REST IN PLUSH, LYNN.

Today, Chicagoland lost a legend.

Lynn Hauldren, 89, the advertising copywriter who became the inspiration for the Empire Carpet Man in the 1970s and helped launch the company’s signature jingle into national recognition, died Tuesday, according to an Empire spokesperson.

Lynn’s commercials were a huge part of my childhood, and I’ll never forget the comfort I found in his Colonel Sanders-like glasses and mustache. May we never forget this local advertising giant, and even more importantly, may we never forget his message: (800) 588-2300…EMPIRE!
